I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to post lately but here’s a quick picture of a gorgeous little girl and her silly brother who I got to photograph recently.

Been Awhile

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted on this blog. With school starting and a nice, long family vacation, I haven’t had the chance to sit down and say hi. Here are some images I took about a month and a half ago, that I am finally getting around to editing and posting. This was the last of our couch sessions and it was with my own little models. When it worked out that we had the couch one more night than originally planned I decided to throw together a quick photo session of the kids and the couch. It was quite the last minute plan so it was amazing that I found clean, matching outfits. I wasn’t even planning on joining in the photos but threw a dress in my bag as I was running out the door (hence the wrinkles you will see in it!)

For being a photographer – I have a terrible time being in pictures. I have this weird lean-in, head-tilt thing I always do that makes me look pretty foolish but since I can’t seem to figure out how to stop doing it whenever a camera turns my way, I’m just getting used to my goofy looking photos – you can see the concentration in my smile…don’t be awkward, don’t be awkward!

Thankfully, the majority of the shots this time weren’t too awkward; but then again you’re only seeing the ones I approved:

Now look at that straight up head – no leaning, no tilting. Phew – maybe there’s hope yet. Thanks to Raider for taking the pics of Micah and I – it’s nice to finally have some with each other. Had I properly prepared for the session I would have brought my tripod and got a family shot!

I have known Lydia since she was just a little girl and to see her graduating from high school, well for one, makes me feel old, but in addition I feel proud to have been able to see her grow up into a beautiful young lady. Lydia is energetic and talkative and fun to be around. We had so much fun wandering around finding places to capture her senior portraits. Right from the beginning we were losing light fast so poor Lydia had to change in and out of her outfits so fast! One outfit that wasn’t really a quick change was her Jane Austen dress. Lydia loves all things Jane Austen and as a graduation gift her Mom and Grandma had this dress made. She wore it at her graduation party and really wanted to get her senior portraits with it as well. I loved the emerald color and how it shone along with the setting sun:

The theme for this mini session was “shade.” Mini sessions in the summer are always a challenge as the sessions stack up and move closer to the hot and sunny noon hour. For this set of sessions I found a nice shady spot that would allow us to capture some updated portraits for all the minis without baking in the heat!
