Couch Love

I have been having so much fun with this vintage couch I borrowed from my friend Keri. I was lucky I happened to have another session scheduled close to the last one so I could squeeze in more pictures with it. I even took my kids out this evening to get some cute couch pictures of our own before I have to return it tomorrow morning (those to come soon).

I was so thankful I finally got the chance to photograph this family. We have been trying to make it work for awhile. Haley was in my daughter Haylie’s preschool class and they each became “the other Haley / Haylie” for the year. They hit it off right away and it was fun getting to know them and Mom and Dad, Tim and Taryn are just really great people. They are moving soon and I wish we had more time to hang out!

Vintage

I have been photographing this family for a couple years now and I always enjoy Mom, Meghan’s great style and love for the unique! She always picks out the best dresses for her daughter Hannah and she has an affection for different, creative photos. Meghan was wanting something more vintage for this session, and thanks to my gracious friend Keri, who let me borrow her beautiful vintage couch, I think we were able to achieve that. I am so in love with this couch and definitely want to find one like it someday!

For this session we had a special treat as Hannah and Henry’s friend Emma was in town from Canada and excited to get her photos taken too. Here is the adorable miss Emma:

Emma wasn’t really interested in posing for me but I was able to catch a ton of great shots as she was playing around, checking out my props:

What to Wear

What to wear is a question I often get before a photo session and I could practically fill a whole What to Wear guide with all of Madeline’s past sessions. Maddie’s Mom Erin, always brings the most adorable, stylish selection of clothes to create beautiful images with. Unique outfits with accessories and cool shoes make a big difference in how the image turns out. Of course, it helps to have a head full of curls and a sweet smile.

I think these next two are my favorites:

Maddie and I are becoming better and better friends each year and I always look forward to our fun session together wandering around the garden. Although I still have to chase her down for the shot sometimes, she now poses perfectly for me when I ask:

I told her she is such a great model and she told me she watched Top Model once with her Mom so she knows how to take good pictures now. So cute – and she really does – she did all of these poses exactly as I had envisioned:

Madeline will be 5 this year and she was so cute with her 5 year old shirt on:
