I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before but my MOST favorite part about photography is the children I get to photograph. I absolutely love children and I love the opportunity to be let into their little worlds and hang out with them for a morning or afternoon. I have photographed many families from our church and I love seeing the kids around the halls on Sunday mornings; they usually remember me and come running up to tell me about something funny that happened in their day or where they went that weekend; we often exchange some high fives and chat about our adventures that we had when taking pictures…until next time! Well, Mr. Eli is on my new little list of buds. We had a great time hanging out this weekend, adventuring through the trees, singing songs and throwing rocks in the river!
I absolutely love this little collage that follows and of course I have a story that goes with it since I am never short for words!! I think I am calling this piece of art – Children’s Photography 101. Parents love that perfect picture where their child is looking straight at the camera smiling, but sometimes it’s a little process to get there – a very fun process but definitely a process. The most important part of the process is getting to know the child you’re photographing and getting them to feel comfortable and natural in front of your camera. You can see below how that process went with little Eli. The last shot was the one I was going for but seriously, who doesn’t love the eight shots before that!!!

When Eva and I were discussing a location she said she wanted something rustic. This place was absolutely perfect and I really loved the colors this time of year. Eva – look at your cute little man on those steps!!!

Eva adopted Eli from Morocco and with the intent of making sure he never loses his heritage she picked up this traditional Moroccan outfit and lamp. I thought they looked amazing and loved capturing this memory they will hopefully treasure forever. (Eva – I have several more cute ones in this outfit!!)

Eva was also telling me that Eli loved Dandelions and Bubbles. The next few pictures really capture his personality and the things he loves at this age!

Do you see this face? That’s a face of determination – he was trying to get me with those bubbles!!!

And one last laughing picture to end this post!! Yeah – he got me with the bubbles and was quite proud of himself!![]()

Eva – thanks so much for the great session. I had such a fun time and simply adored Eli – I hope you guys had fun in the water afterwards.![]()
