Sophie and the Gang

This weekend the S. family all got together to celebrate Grandma’s 80th birthday and I had the great privilege of taking some family pictures for them. Our morning started off a little wild with some unexpected mud, large earthworms and a short hike to a better location, but everyone was a trooper and I think it paid off. Even with 19 people and all the associated challenges to get everyone looking at the camera, we managed to get some great shots.

Here are Grandma and Grandpa. Happy Birthday Grandma S.

What a legacy you have created in your family!

And here is Sophie…Sophie was the youngest in the S. family and we were nervous about being able to get her to look at the camera but she did amazing!!! I caught this quick pic of her while all the adults were posing themselves. She was ready and smiling!

All the cousins…

The WHOLE family! I Love Sophie’s expression in this one of the whole group.

And the post wouldn’t be complete without a quick shot of Rob having a little fun with his dear sister and the earthworms. At this point she had no idea that worm was hanging behind her head but she figured something was up when I started taking pictures of her :)

Lots more pictures to come soon in your gallery S. family - thank you so much for having me and sorry again about the mud!!! :)

Baby Bottoms

I love little naked babies! I know that probably sounds a little weird, but seriously, there’s nothing cuter than a little naked baby bum. Well, my baby has just turned ONE YEAR OLD - so I think that makes him officially a toddler now (weep weep). He has started walking and talking and I’m pretty sure we won’t be taking too many more naked baby pictures of him so I had to get one last naked “baby” photo for the record. So here he is with his cute little bum!

And here he was at two weeks old. (My first “real” photoshoot)

Behind the Camera

Most of my interaction with a camera is from behind it. We get family pictures done but I don’t think I’ve ever had pictures taken of just me. This weekend I got together with my friend Megan, from Megan Squires Photography and we spent some time shooting each other to update our portfolio pictures. It was actually a great experience because it really helped me better understand what my clients are seeing / thinking while I am shooting. Megan is so photogenic I had too many shots to choose from. Here are some of my favorites:meg-coll

I think this is my most favorite:

Outtakes

I am finally close to finishing the blog design that has been under construction since I first launched my photography site. I’m sure it will be ever-changing and I will always look for ways to enhance it, but when I started I had a very clear vision for what I wanted it to look like and this is it!! I just added my new brand new blog headers (so take a minute and watch the slideshow at the top) and I rearranged the structure of the blog to be a little more user-friendly. Hope you all like it!

What this post is really about though is a new gallery I have just added on my website. I added a gallery called “Outtakes” which was inspired by this picture:

(Hopefully Renee didn’t mind me posting that) I think it is just adorable and to be honest, most of my favorite pictures of my clients are the silly, funny ones where no one is looking, kids are making faces, and most importantly everyone is just having fun. So consider this gallery my very own “blooper reel,” because those types of pictures never make it onto the blog, or into the galleries of “the best shots” so I thought I would dedicate some internet space to the “real best shots.” Make sure to stop by my website and check out the outtakes gallery! For now here’s one more - my daughter Haylie never leaves me at a loss for some silly-face “outtake” photos!!
