Baby Sawyer

“If you could take a cup and fill it up, and just keep on filling ’til it all comes spilling down the sides, that’s what you do in my life.”

That is a quote from one of my favorite songs and when I heard it in the car yesterday it reminded me of the photo session I just did with Tim, Amber and baby Sawyer. Sawyer is just 4 weeks old and Tim and Amber couldn’t be more excited about the new addition to their family, despite the current lack of sleep they are enduring! Tim and Amber are such natural, easy going parents they made our time together so fun. Also, Sawyer was very interested in my camera which made it easy to take pictures during his awake time - he was staring right at it the whole time! :) Amber brought such a cute little outfit and matching hat for Sawyer and Tim’s dad is a fireman so we had fun taking different shots with his fire hat. We had very limited lighting so I got to try out my new “Speedlight” and it worked great. I think we got some great shots - Tim and Amber - enjoy!

I love hats - and look at those bright eyes!!!

I love how Sawyer is looking up at Daddy in this one:

Hopefully Grandpa didn’t mind the placement on this one!

Presenting…

Generally a logo is a foundational part of starting a business; a critical first step to define and market your new venture. Well, I am a little late to the game because I am so darn picky. But… I am VERY excited to present my new logo for Sandy Runner photography.

Thanks so much to Tracy at Sugar Lime Designs for creating my new logo and for patience in putting up with my inability to make a decision!! I am so happy with the final product and I absolutely LOVE everything about it! Hope you all like it as well. You will soon start to see all of the colors and designs on the website and blog change to match this new logo, so stay tuned and keep checking back!

Here is a basic description of Sandy Runner photography that will accompany the build out with my logo:

Sandy Runner is an on-location, natural light, child photographer in the Sacramento-area, specializing in newborn, infant, children, maternity, seniors, head shots, family and portrait photography. Based in Folsom, CA she covers Sacramento, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Roseville, Elk Grove, Orangevale, Citrus Heights and other surrounding areas.

Lookout Picture People

When I first became interested in really improving my photography skills, I bought this white backdrop - attempting to recreate the Picture People experience at home. I really struggled and finally gave up after many unsuccessful attempts to get that really bright white background. Although my personal style for photogrpahy is different than what Picture People offers, I like for my clients to have options. So this week I broke out my white background, hoping all the recent things I learned would make a difference and voila! I am excited that I can now offer a traditional lookng portrait on a black or white background in addition to the natural setting photography that I truly enjoy.

Great Light

I LOVE great light!! Seriously, it makes me all giddy inside. And when I woke up this morning I was so excited to see the beautiful “dewey” light outside (that’s my new word that I think I made up - Micah doesn’t like it much but I’m pretty sure I heard him say it this morning when he called me on my way to the photo shoot and said, “it looks like you got some good ‘dewey’ light out today”). :)

I had sooo much fun today with Brian, Renee, Aiden and Calla. Renee found a great location by the river - I really love it when clients pick a location because that way I know it fits their style, and plus I get to find new places to take pictures! I’m pretty sure I had so much fun though because this was such a FUN family! In order to get the kids to smile Renee and Brian had all sorts of fun words. We started off with “tootie” - I don’t know what it means but it definitely worked. We moved onto “cookie” and “mufasa” - but it’s not just the words - it’s the way they say them that was so hilarious - I wish I could post sound bytes on here…

Aiden was really, really good at giving high-fives. We had lots of fun skipping, galloping, throwing rocks and smiling for the pictures of course - he was a very good sport about all the pictures.

Now, onto that great light…
